the search

The Search is about the beach and what it inspires—especially spending quality time with people we love (including oneself).

People walk beaches searching for many things—beyond shells and treasures. Often we search for understanding or answers to the questions in our lives. We listen and look for these things in the waves and sand, and if we open our hearts we realize they have their own way of responding. They can surprise us with a shifted perspective about what we need—which is not necessarily what we thought we were looking for.

When we are present in the world, perhaps focused on a simple activity like searching for seashells, or following lines in the sand, something powerful can happen. By noticing simply what is right around (and within) us, paying attention to how our inner and outer worlds resonate, we may discover something even more valuable than the answers or understanding we could have been seeking (these letters are scattered lightly in the sand)—the valuable time we may not have realized we need most of all.

The Search was created in Adobe Photoshop by layering original beach photos, shells gathered with my family, and type.
